About POPOyster Project

The Project

This research is conducted as part of the HRZZ POPOyster project, funded by the Croatian Science Foundation and carried out by the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries.

The European flat oyster (Ostrea edulis) is a native species of the Adriatic Sea, whose numbers have significantly decreased due to overfishing, disease, and environmental changes in recent decades.

The goal of this initiative is to collect data on the presence and distribution of this oyster species in the Croatian part of the Adriatic.

Your Contribution

By participating in this research, you are helping scientists better understand the state of natural populations and develop conservation measures for this valuable species.

Every observation is valuable and contributes to a better understanding of the distribution of the European flat oyster in the Adriatic.
